Laboratory Technician Laboratory Technician will strive to provide proficient, competent care while ensuring accurate results.Responsibilities Creating and maintaining a patient centered focus by engaging in a positive working relationship with all patients, visitor, and facility staff.Performing laboratory patient testing and reporting as assigned by the Laboratory Director in accordance with the Laboratory Procedure Manual.Identifying patients and labels specimens correctly and legibly according to departmental policies and procedures.Collecting appropriate specimens from patients ensuring that two patient identifiers are collected prior to collection and labeling at the patient's bedside.Preparing or instructing patients for specimen collection in age‑appropriate dialog.Preparing specimens to be sent out to a reference laboratory.Following all laboratory safety policies and procedures as well as making all records and documents available for inspection by the Laboratory Director, Technical Consultant, or CLIS Inspectors.Running controls and documents as described in the QC Policy 12.01.2015.Calibrating all laboratory instruments in accordance with the Laboratory Policy and Procedure Manual.Maintaining all laboratory instruments as prescribed by the manufacturers and troubleshooting instrument failure according to the manufacturers troubleshooting procedures.Maintaining laboratory supply inventories and order/restock supplies as needed to ensure no disruptions are caused due to supply levels.Requirements and Qualifications Associate degree in laboratory science or Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology is required.ASCP Certified or equivalent preferred.1 year experience in a hospital setting minimum.Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements.Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards.Critical thinking skills, ability to work autonomously and make efficient use of time and resources.Must have a current driver's license with no restrictions.Must have the ability to be flexible and meet the scheduling demands of the department.Pay & Benefits Pay is commensurate with experience.Night shift differential.401K with company match.Additional benefits for full‑time employees.Job description statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job title.
