General Summary of the Position

Performs tasks involving physical labor in mechanical assembly of piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3, B31.8.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (following are accountabilities included but not limited to):

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in fabrication and assembly projects.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman/Superintendent or HSSE Manager.
  • Other duties assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in fabrication and assembly of gas processing plants.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to assemble piping systems (threaded and welded), including supports using isometric and plan view drawings, while following quality control procedures to ensure the products meet the required specifications.
  • Must be able to understand and follow bills of materials.
  • Knowledge of safe rigging practices including hand signals.
  • Ability to set/install equipment (vessels, rotating equipment, etc.) on the modules in accordance with drawings and Manufacturer's Recommendations.
  • Ability to read or learn to read P&ID's.
  • Experience in pressure testing piping systems (pneumatic and hydrostatic).
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Any experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
Work Context:
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and other particles.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Noise level is generally loud.
  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Excellent stamina is required.
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas.
