Job Title: Special Education Aide- Early Childhood

Campus: Troup Elementary School

Primary Purpose:

Help special education teacher and/or general education teacher by providing inclusion support for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in general education and/or special education setting.

Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management; and, assist in making curriculum accessible to students at their learning level.

Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work with children with disabilities

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Knowledge of general office equipment

Must work well with active children

Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Prior experience with children preferred

Prior experience with personal care preferred
