Our law firm currently has a full-time associate attorney position available, and we're looking for the right professional to join our team. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior and litigation associates, handle a variety of legal issues, and provide legal counsel to existing clients.
You'll also be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting documents, and maintaining up-to-date client files. Responsibilities
• Conduct "Discovery Calls" with prospective clients to evaluate their legal issues, clearly explain the firm's services, and align prospective client needs with appropriate solutions
• Build trust and rapport with prospective clients to convert consultations into retained cases
• Review and explain payment structures, billing arrangements, and retainer agreements to prospective clients
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding payments and financial arrangements. Ensure all payments are collected in a timely manner and in accordance with the firm's policies
• Collaborate with the marketing team to identify new opportunities for client engagement and referrals
• Research issues related to clients' cases
• Draft and file legal documents (pleadings, motions, etc)
• Come up with legal theories for clients' cases
• Communicate with clients; if you like to communicate with clients or go the extra mile to make the client happy, then please apply
• Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
• Organize and maintain files to ensure accuracy for other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
• Assist clients in determining a proper solution to legal conflicts and determine the best course of action
• Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
• Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
Qualifications
• J.D. degree and an active law license in North Carolina are required
• Display excellent written, problem-solving, and verbal communication skills
• History of being deadline-driven and extremely organized
• Courtroom experience is not required
• Experience in professional licensing/administrative law matters is preferred, but not required
• Experience in sales is preferred but not required
• Proficient in basic computer software and can quickly learn to use new programs
• Self-starter able to work independently and adhere to the firm's policy and procedure manual
• Experience with cloud-based technology, specifically Google Drive & law firm management software, to name a few, is required
• The ability to work as a member of a team is necessary
• The use of a calendar and a task management system is required
• The ability to use meeting software, like 'Zoom', 'Google Meet', and 'Microsoft Teams', is required
• Must have a valid driver's license
• There will be some work in Superior Court via appeals of agency/board decisions and other professional license-related matters
• Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills needed in order to work with all levels of staff and our clients
• Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
• Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
• Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base
• Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam
