Summary:

We are seeking dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistants to provide high-quality therapy services under the guidance of an occupational therapist. In this role, you will work closely with patients to develop their independence and facilitate their therapeutic journey according to established goals and treatment plans. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, assisting with the direction of support staff, and ensuring that all services align with CHRISTUS St. Michael and departmental policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to administrative and departmental policies, demonstrating professional behavior, appropriate dress, and a reliable attendance record.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to enhance relationships within the organization.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Engage in inter-departmental communication to support hospital and corporate objectives.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation as outlined in departmental policies.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the occupational therapy department's services.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient report updates.
  • Perform patient care tasks to help restore maximum independence and function, approaching all duties with ethical standards.
  • Exhibit competencies in occupational therapy assisting techniques that ensure quality care.
  • Respond effectively to varying situations and take charge when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and proper maintenance of therapeutic equipment.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program recognized by AOTA.

Experience

  • Open to new graduates and all levels of experience in occupational therapy assisting.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain current licensure/registration/certification and provide proof as required by the hospital.
  • BCLS certification is mandatory.
