JOB SUMMARY: Supervise the daily operations of a surface water treatment plant. Responsible for ensuring all treatment processes remain in compliance with TCEQ regulations. Prepares and submits all internal and external reports. Ensures the plant always has appropriate chemical inventories. Responsible for ensuring all facility maintenance needs are met. Maintains all facility supplies inventories. Position reports to the Water Treatment Superintendent. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Supervise plant personnel 2. Monitor, trend, and determine the best course of action as they relate to changing water quality conditions 3. Trend chemical use and order chemicals as needed 4. Submit all internal and external reports as needed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis 5. Must have proper knowledge of water treatment processes and techniques OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Evaluate employee performance by observation, and discussions with the employee and or the employee's immediate supervisor 2. Manage employees' licensing requirements are met by prioritizing employees' attendance in training classes and by renewing their licenses 3. Conduct monthly safety meetings 4. Meet, plan, and discuss plant maintenance issues with Plant Operator III. Formulate specific plans to resolve said maintenance issues 5. Other duties as assigned SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: 1. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of water treatment techniques, the ability to assess water quality conditions, and determine the best course of action to take in various water quality conditions 2. Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours, stand for up to 4 hours, lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs. 3. Must be able to operate a personal computer and be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and how to use them. 4. Must be able to work indoors or outdoors for long periods in various weather conditions, including weather extremes. MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in: Engineering, Science, Management, or a related field, desired but not required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Must have (5) years of surface water treatment experience, and (2) years supervisory experience. Must possess a valid TCEQ Class B Surface Water License or be able to obtain within (12) months of employment.
