Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Austin, Texas

Pay Rate: $39.94/hr

Shift:(1) 4x10's, 9p-7:30a, rotating weekends

Position Summary:

A Children's Hospital in the Austin Area is looking for three (3) MLT's to join their team. They will determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

• Bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
• MLT, MLS or MT certification through ASCP or AMT preferred
• 2-4 years experience in a hospital lab as a generalist (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation)
• Blood Bank experience required
• Experience with Cerner Path Net preferred for LIS
