Overview

The Director of Special Investigations Unit (SIU) leads our team focused on fraud detection, investigation, and compliance.

Note: This position requires a hybrid schedule out of one of our AmTrust offices.

Responsibilities

  • People: Sculpt a team that drives excellence. Evaluate existing employees' abilities and capabilities ensuring talent is aligned with business strategies; hold people accountable while strengthening and retaining talent to ensure employees can thrive. Oversight of talent management, performance reviews, process adherence, training, staff development, and performance improvement. Recognize talent encouraging professional growth. Drive development and professional growth through transparent expectation setting and follow-through. Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to SIU and investigative referrals.
  • Process: Exercise exceptional process adherence to create consistent investigations yielding impact on the direction of the file. Ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining excellent file quality. Provide guidance on the direction of investigations to ensure consistency and compliance. Collaborate closely with underwriting, audit, and claims personnel to evaluate all aspects of a referral and determine an investigative path, and document investigative plans. Identify process improvements to increase impact or efficiency. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Performance: Leverage technology and data to support the strategic vision. Ensure investigators perform to expectations by regularly evaluating work. Understand and anticipate requirements, taking action to provide high-quality investigative services that exceed expectations. Be a problem solver when issues arise and identify alternative solutions to continue driving performance and results. Take ownership of outcomes and results delivered by the team. Demonstrate understanding of the organization and its products/services, leveraging organizational values and relationships to accomplish tasks.

Qualifications

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field from an accredited college or university; or
  • 7-10 years of insurance claims investigation experience or professional investigation experience with law enforcement agencies; or
  • Seven years of professional investigation experience
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial casualty, property, automobile, and workers' compensation insurance products.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze large data sets and make informed decisions.
  • Respect for confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, with willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
