POSITION SUMMARY
The shipping and receiving position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Complete receipt verification for purchasing and customer supplied materials
Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.
Coordinate proper storage of materials
Arrange appropriate packaging for shipping
Administrate computerized Inventory System
Generate shipping documentation
Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
Monitor freezer temperatures, conducting testing as needed
Send material receipt notifications to customers
Update supplier performance records
Operates fork lifts and hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper areas
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
Performs any other function or responsibility as assigned
Additional REQUIRED Qualifications/Skills:
Minimum of a high school education or G.E.D. and one year of factory-related experience in shipping and receiving.
Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math
A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Additional PREFERRED Qualifications/Skills:
Licensed forklift truck operator.
Operation of co-rolling equipment is desirable
